Act 1: The Magical Encounter

Charlotte has lost her way in life and all things career when she unexpectedly bumps into Adam. Adam walked pass them Charlotte’s friend who was drunk asked him them some of the food he was holding. There is immediate chemistry, and they spend a memorable night talking about aspirations and dreams, love, and fears. She slept at his place that night and even made out.

The next morning, Adam vanishes, leaving only behind a cryptic note. While Charlotte is both confused and intrigued, she tries to chase after the man but finds no trace of him.

Act 2: The Search for Adam

After that incident, she doesn’t seem to get her mind off Adam. She has completely fallen for him. When they met that night, he drew some painting, now anytime Charlotte sees that painting, it reminds him of Adam, but she dismisses the feeling all the time, she think it was just a one night stand.

However,  She learns that Adam is living with a serious illness that he chose not to share with her. He had hoped to leave the city for treatment but wished to do so without any sort of sadness attached to their brief time together.

Act 3: Love, Loss, and Acceptance

A friend of Adam went to where Charlotte was working and gave her a letter that was written to Adam to her. She was sad when she reads that, and she goes to the hospital to meet  Adam who had recently undergone surgery inside his head, he was nearing the end of his battle with his illness.

This reunion is bittersweet-it is all love with some painful acceptance of reality. They have kept special moments, with Adam urging Charlotte to drink in life deeply.

After Adam dies, Charlotte is left in pieces but renewed. She follows her dreams and steps into another chapter, carrying with her the memory and lessons of Adam.

1. Isabelle Fuhrman as Charlotte

Charlotte is relatable to everyone since she must deal with love, loss, and self-discovery and finds herself central to the narrative of this film.

2. Mena Massoud as Adam

The both spoke, Charlotte finds him interesting, but her heart was still with Adam. He’s also an understanding guy. When Adam died  and Charlott was heartbroken, he understood what she was going passing through and he was there for her. He made her laugh and even offered to dance with her. 

5. Jordan Gavaris as Chucky

Jordan Gavaris plays the role of Chucky in the movie. He is the younger brother of Charlotte. He is always on her nerves, but he loves his sister Charlotte so much. He was the one, alongside his mom and Helen, that created the profile for Charlotte on the dating app.

He wrote some really funny things about her on the profile and even used her Prom photo as her profile picture. Chucky is an example of  that annoying younger brother we have, but who is also sweet and good. 

6. Kelsey Grammer as Charlotte’s Dad

In the movie, Kelsey Grammer is Charlotte and Chucky’s dad. He is a good and loving father. Even when Charlotte wasn’t doing well and had bills to pay, he supported her, giving her money to sort our herself.

Other Character

We have other character like Jennifer Grey, who is Charlotte and Chucky’s mom,  and husband to Kelsey Grammer  in the movie.  We have Mike Carlsen as Jon Jon, Josh Caras as Roddy, Antonique Smith as the nurse who took care of Adam when he was in the hospital .

Isabelle Fuhrman and Mena Massoud’s Chemistry: Did It Work?

Their characters, Charlotte and Adam, fall in love, but Adam is very sick. Some people who saw the movie felt Fuhrman and Massoud had good chemistry. They felt the actors made the love story believable and sad, while other viewers felt they were not as connected.

Something was missing to them. Maybe the film represented Adam’s illness rather than their romance. Or one actor happened to be very strong in certain scenes while the other was put in the background. It is hard to say. Each person will see the movie differently.

What one finds romantic might not be so for others. It is a film that deals with love and loss. Whether you like, or appreciate, the chemistry between the two leads is up to you.

Julia Stiles as a Director: How Did She Do?

Julia Stiles is an actress known for roles in such films as “10 Things I Hate About You” and the “Bourne” series, but she took a turn into the other side of the aisle with “Wish You Were Here,” her directorial debut.
