Why Did Lou Abandon Will and His Mom?

If you seen the the movie Bel air, then you’d agree with me that Will who is the main character in the series loves his family, this is including this father too. It is true that they some time have their different, but Will has always wanted a united family. And we can see in the series that he manage to make that happen, he set up a little meeting  among the three of them and it ended with a hug, he helped unite his family.

But what really made Lou, who is his dad to leave him and his mom when he was little? This what we are about to find out in this article.

The Relationship Between Lou and Will’s Mom

The relationship between Lou and Will’s Mom was really good, thy both didn’t even want to see themselves, especially Will’s mom, she didn’t want Lou around Will. When she had that Lou was in Bel Air, she wasn’t happy about it.

She wanted stability for her son Will and she believe Lou was trouble and was never gonna offer that to will.  Lou had just returned from jail, he isn’t that settled yet, she’s still trying to look for job and all of that, so he didn’t stay to suppose Will and his mom.

Vy had to everything on her own, she struggled and took care of will. It wasn’t easy, but she did it. This was what cause the problem between them both and it even created a tension between Will and Lou, I mean the man Lou didn’t make enough move to reconnect with them.

Why Lou Abandoned Will and His Mom?

The truth is, it wasn’t entirely Lou’s fault  that he Abandoned Will and his mom, it was due to the circumstances he found himself. He committed a crime that got him to jail. He was in jail for long time and at that time Will was still a kid .

The reason he went to jail was that Lou and  Will’s Mom were struggling at that time , they barely had money. Lou had worked for someone, but the person for some reason didn’t pay. Will’s mom got tired of the situation they were in and told Lou to go meet the man and get the money he had worked. When Lou got there, things didn’t really well as expected, one thing led to another and that got him jail.

To add to this, Lou and Will’s mom where not in good term.  This made the reconciliation process to time, but the good thing is, they did reconciled  and became one good happy family.

How Lou’s Absence Affected Will’s Life

Lou’s absent had really affected Will mentally , if you’ve seen the series, then you’d understand what I’m saying. In the movie, especially when he just got to Bel Air, you can see that he always felt this anger and abandoned. He was going through a lot, but his dad wasn’t there to encourage or support him, thanks to his uncle Mr Banks that played some role of a father in his life.

There were he doubted himself and even thought he was the reason why his father left him. It also made him not to really trust people the initial he came to Bel Air, he just wanted to do everything and anything by himself, This affected his relationship with many people. But the good thing, as the series progressed, we see some changes in him.

Not only that, his decision making was negatively influenced too. Will was always trying to proof himself. Some of those decisions he would not have made if only his Dad was there for him.

Why Lou’s Return Causes Tension

There was a lot of tension when Lou returned to Bel Air. There was tension between Lou and Will, tension between Lou and wife’s mom and even tension between Mr Banks and Lou himself

He feels hurt and angry because Lou left him and his mom when he was still a young kid. For years, Lou didn’t even try to reach out and explain why he left, which made Will feel abandoned.

When Lou returns, Will goes through a very hard emotional ride. He wants to know why his dad left, but on the other hand, he is scared of getting hurt again.

The reunion brings up painful memories for Will, who is uncertain whether he can trust his father or not. Reunion makes pressure between Will and his mom, and with Uncle Phil, too, who was there in times when Lou was absent, and makes it hard for Will to fully open his arms to his dad.

Father-Son Relationships in Bel-Air: A Deeper Look at Abandonment

It is in the storyline of Lou in *Bel-Air* that one sees much pain left by a parent who abandoned his child. Large elements of father-son relationships build into the show. When Lou opted to go his own separate way and leave Will and his mom, he put deep emotional scars on Will. That just reminds one of how hard it really is for a father not to be present in his child’s life.

Other characters show father-son issues, too. For example, Uncle Phil becomes Will’s father figure and replaces Lou. It is also shown to deal with the importance of having a father figure in a child’s life. It talks about the struggles of growing up without a dad too.

Lou’s case revealed abandonment pain, yet he was grateful that others came into his life to fill in the gaps.

Conclusion

This is the most relevant part of the show “Bel-Air,” where the year Will’s father, Lou, left town serves to define the latter half of his life. Indeed, because of the personal problems he had been through then, prison sentences, and issues of guilt and inadequateness.

He thought it was better to stay away from his son rather than be a lousy influence on him. However, the emotional scar left on Will by Lou’s absence was just too deep, and he faced some serious after-effects like trust issues, feelings of anger, abandonment feelings that always reflected in his relationships and choices.
